Премии EFCATS 2007 года

Dear Colleagues and friends,

This is to inform you on behalf of the Board of Officers that, following past agreements of the EFCATS Council, the following two prizes will be granted in 2007 and officially announced during the next EUROPACAT congress in Turku, Finland:

  1. To the best Ph.D. Thesis selected by an ãad hocä committee from all the theses presented by the country members, at only one thesis per country. The prize, which consists of a stipend of 1,000 euros, will be communicated to the winner as soon as possible. Each country has to make its own previous selection from all the theses presented between June 15th, 2005 and June 15th, 2007, and send an electronic copy in English of:
    • The whole thesis or, at least, an extended summary
    • The publications corresponding to the contents of the thesis
  2. The François Gault Lectureship Award to a distinguis hed scientist elected by the EFCATS Council from the candidates presented by the national delegates. The recipient of this award is expected to present about 10 lectures all over Europe in the years between two biennial EUROPACAT meetings, in this case bet ween September 2007 and September 2009. The François Gault Lectureship is the most prestigious distinction that a catalysis scientist can receive from a European organization and has been awarded successively to Sir J.M. Thomas, G. Ertl, H. Topsøe, A. Corma, M. Che and G.J. Hutchings. Together with the name of each candidate you should also send a copy of his personal curriculum vitae in English. The François Gault Lecturer will receive 3,000 euros from EFCATS, plus any additional financial support which the recipient laboratories may provide.

In order to carry out in time the selection process, we need to receive in this secretariat the candidacies for both prizes before the 16th of June, 2007 (by 12:00h GMT). I will be glad to answer any question either by phone or e-mail.
