Nanoparticles 2009 conference

This unique two and a half day meeting showcases the UK’s most exciting research in the production, processing and applications of nanoparticles (and nanomaterials), with a view to their fundamental chemistries, property measurement, formulation/ arrangement and latterly, their commercial exploitation.

The big questions we seek to address include:

  • What are the current synthetic approaches to nanoparticles and nanomaterials in the UK and beyond?
  • What methods are currently available for characterisation and property measurement of nanoparticles?
  • What are the properties of nanoparticles and nanomaterials artefacts/devices and how do these differ from bulk analogues?
  • What are the useful applications in healthcare and renewable energy for nanoparticles/nanofunctional materials and how can they be best exploited?

the deadline for oral presentation is Friday 26th June 2009, for poster abstracts is Friday 31st July 2009 and early bird registration deadline is Friday 7th August 2009.

We have some student bursaries for students who will present at the conference (student members of SCI/RSC will qualify). The bursary is very popular and we have to distribute them on a first come, first served basis. Students please register early to be qualified for one of these bursaries.

After the conference, there will be a theme issue on ”Nanoparticles and Nanomaterials” to be published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A in 2010. There are already 8 contributions from invited speakers, so there will be a limited number of contributions to be selected from conference attendees. If you wish your work to be considered for the theme issue please indicate this at the top of your oral abstracts page with the heading “NP and NM theme issue”.
